Former President Ram Nath Kovind-Led Committee Seeks Public Input for ‘One Nation, One Election’ Proposal

'One Nation, One Election' high-level committee, headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind, invites public suggestions "for making appropriate changes in the existing legal administrative framework to enable simultaneous elections in the country." The suggestions can be posted on the committee's website http://onoe.gov.in or sent by e-mail to sc-hlc@gov.in. The deadline to submit suggestions is 15th January 2024.

Varanasi court to decide on Jan 24 whether to make public ASI report on Gyanvapi mosque complex

A Varanasi court on Saturday fixed January 24 for deciding whether to make public the sealed ASI report on the Gyanvapi mosque complex and provide copies to parties. The order to this effect was given by District Judge A K Vishvesh, Madan Mohan Yadav, counsel for the Hindu side, said. The counsel of the Hindu and Muslim sides and the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) were present in the court. The court said it will decide the issue after the hearing in the matter before the Civil Judge Senior Division Fast Track Court takes place. The Fast Track Court is scheduled to take up the matter on January 19.

CBI raids : Commercial tax department in Puducherry

Sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation from Chennai raided the Department of Commercial Taxes office here on Saturday, police sources said. The CBI personnel quizzed a woman consultant and two officials of the department following complaints of irregularities in the collection of GST, the sources said.

Over the years these relations have moved from strength to strength. Recently at so many levels, our relationship has blossomed. One thing I would like to see is more progress in connectivity and joint projects with mutual economic benefits. Some of the foundations have been laid. Therefore with good results in the upcoming elections both in Bangladesh and, subsequently in India, these various connectivity-related projects will further be strengthened.

On ED naming former Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel in the supplementary charge sheet in the Mahadev betting app case, former Chhattisgarh Deputy CM and Congress leader TS Singh Deo says, "Bhupesh Baghel's name was taken earlier also before state elections to influence the election results. The name has been added based on the statement of Asim Das but he himself has given in writing that he was pressurised and ED took the statement. The game of ED is going on in the entire country. I see this action in the same context...Who received the money and where was it used? First, they (ED) must prove the money trail."
