Ram Mandir Consecration: Thane’s Civic Body Appeals Chicken-Mutton Shops To Be Closed On January 22

All stores selling chicken, mutton, and fish under the control of the Bhiwandi Nizampur City Municipal Corporation in the Thane district of Maharashtra have been asked to stay closed on January 22, in the view of Ram temple’s consecration ceremony in Ayodhya.

Ajay Vaidya, the civic body’s administrator and municipal commissioner, made the request and asked for retailers’ help.

The consecration of Lord Ram’s idol will take place on January 22, according to a statement released by Vaidya on Friday. There are festivities scheduled for that day all around Bhiwandi in the honour of occasion.

All of Bhiwandi’s mutton, chicken, and fish stores should stay closed on that day, it was determined during a review meeting that was attended by police officials, the city administration, and the local peace committee on Thursday, therefore the appeal was made.

Before this, the gram panchayat of Thane district’s socially conscious Padgha village requested the residents to close stores that sold alcohol and non-vegetarian cuisine on January 22.

In the honor of consecration ceremony of the Ram temple on January 22, the Maharashtra government declared a public holiday on Friday. The Center has previously declared that a half-day holiday will be observed for the occasion at all of its offices, organizations, and industrial sites across India.
