World’s largest office building to be inaugurated by PM Modi in Gujarat’s Surat on December 17
On December 17, Gujarat’s Surat Diamond Bourse (SDB) building—the largest office complex in the world—will be officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Constructed at an approximate expense of Rs 3,500 crore, the 67 lakh square feet of floor area of the building can accommodate almost 4,500 offices for diamond trading.
The structure, which is a part of Diamond Research and Mercantile (DREAM) City, was named the world’s largest office building by Guinness World Records in August of this year.
Constructed on a 35.54-acre plot, the megastructure features 15 floors in addition to nine ground towers with office space ranging from 300 square feet to one lakh square feet. There is a central spine connecting the nine rectangular towers. The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has awarded the building a platinum rating.
Up to 70,000 individuals from all over the nation and the world have received invitations, and the organizers claim that everything is set for the inaugural event.
In the last few weeks, a number of diamond trading companies have already opened for business at their SDB offices. The structure is intended to serve as a handy gathering place for more than 65,000 diamond professionals, including cutters, polishers, and traders.
Along with security plans, the Diamond Bourse campus features a convention centre, exhibition centres, banks, safe deposit vaults, restaurants, conference halls, multipurpose halls, entertainment areas, restaurants, and a club in addition to offices.
