Woman on house hunt gangraped by property dealer, friend in Burari, 1 arrested

A 52-year-old property dealer was arrested by Delhi police on suspicion of gang-raping a woman who was looking for a place to live in the Burari neighbourhood of north Delhi. The friend and co-accused in the case is being sought after, according to the police.

As per the Delhi Police, the 30-year-old lady contacted the accused, Jitendra Singh, a property dealer in Burari, while searching for a rental place.

Chaudhary and his friend allegedly offered the woman a glass of water laced with sedatives on Sunday when they took her to a flat on the pretext of showing her a house that was available for rent.

The victim allegedly fell unconscious after drinking the water, and the two then raped her one after the other.

Police said that a gangrape case has been filed at this location’s Burari police station, and an investigation is currently in progress.

The two accused have been charged by the police under sections 376(D) (gang rape), 328 (using poison to cause harm), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
