A school in Rajasthan allegedly denied a class 12th girl to appear for board examination after she had been gang-raped.
The student filed a complaint against the school’s actions and stated that the authorities accused her of ‘spoiling the atmosphere’ if she appeared for the exams.
However, the Ajmer private school asserts that since the student had missed four months of classes, they never issued her an admit card.
The student brought up the issue with a teacher at a different school, who suggested that she give the child helpline a call. Following the investigation, the Child Welfare Commission (CWC) of Ajmer has filed a case and will take the appropriate action.
The student had a conversation with CWC Chairperson Anjali Sharma regarding the entire incident. The girl’s ability to retake the exams she missed in March is their top priority, she stated, even as the investigation is ongoing.

In October of last year, her uncle and two other men sexually assaulted the student. The school then advised her to study at home because she might “spoil the atmosphere” if she went, she told Anjali Sharma. She agreed and had been studying at home for her board exams.
The victim was informed that she was no longer a student at the institution when she went to pick up her admit card. It dawned on her then that the school had denied her entry right after the rape because other students’ parents didn’t want her there.
Anjali Sharma said, “When I spoke to the girl, she told me that she was dejected as she is a bright student. She had scored 79% in her class 10 board exams.”
“The girl could have done well if she had appeared for her 12th boards, but she may lose a year due to the school’s negligence,” she further added.
