A strange case was discoverd in the Janakikund Chikitsalaya, running under Shri Sadguru Seva Sangh Trust, established by Sant Ranchod Das Ji Maharaj, which has become a topic of constant discussion. People in the world also have strange habits in eating and drinking.

A 25 year old woman developed a strange hobby of eating different types of hair but it later became fatal for the woman.

Ultimately, after operation in Janakikund Hospital, a bunch of hair weighing about two and a half kilos was taken out from the woman’s stomach, after which her life was saved. The whole matter is of Janaki Kund Hospital located in the holy city of Chitrakoot Dham in Satna district. Dr. Poonam Advani (Nirmala Gehani), the senior surgeon of the hospital, operated on a woman suffering from pain who came from Mahoba district of UP and removed about two and a half kilos of hair from her stomach.

Giving information about the entire matter, Dr. Poonam Advani (Nirmala Gehani) told that such cases occur in which women eat hair. In medical language, they are called it is called Rapunzel syndrome.

Women who eat hair are often young and also have psychiatric problems. Generally, this type occurs in only one percent of the cases.

In my entire life, I have come across only three cases of this type. One case was of a nine-year-old child, the second case was of an 18-year-old girl, and this third case was of a 25-year-old woman.

The woman has three children aged 5 years, 2 years and five months. And the woman had developed the habit of eating hair during her second pregnancy. Due to the habit of eating hair, the woman not only ate her own hair but also those around her. She would also eat the hair of others.

The woman gave birth to a second child. After which the woman stopped eating hair. But the woman started having stomach pain. Due to stomach pain, the woman consulted the doctors at the Medical College in Banda district of UP, and the doctors also got her ultrasound done, but no diagnosis could be made.

Later the woman came to Janaki Kund Hospital and was shown to senior surgeon Dr. Nirmala Gehani. The woman got a CT scan done by Dr. Gehani when the whole situation came to light. Due to her habit of eating hair, the woman’s stomach was completely full and the tuft of hair had completely taken the form of indigestion. Due to which the woman was vomiting continuously and was not even able to eat food. According to Dr. Nirmala Gehani, in such a situation the woman could have died. She told that it took about 2 hours for this operation and after a lot of effort, this bunch of hair came out.

Trustee and Director Dr. B.K. Jain and Trustee Dr. Ilesh Jain expressed happiness over this successful operation and congratulated Dr. Poonam Advani, Dr. Kamal Mandloi and their entire team.
