Uddhav Thackeray Cheated BJP And Sat In Congress-NCP’s Lap: Amit Shah

Home Minister Amit Shah, charged Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), on Saturday with abandoning the BJP by teaming up with the Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) and Congress for the position of chief minister during the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Speaking at a rally in Nanded as part of the BJP’s outreach drive to commemorate completion of Narendra Modi government’s nine-year tenure, Mr. Shah claimed that the party had not succeeded in toppling the Thackeray-led MVA government the previous year. He further added, “I as (then) BJP president and (the then chief minister) Devendra Fadnavis had carried out negotiations in which Thackeray agreed that if the NDA gets majority, Fadnavis will be the chief minister (again) of Maharashtra. However, after the results (in 2019), Thackeray broke the promise and sat in the Congress-NCP’s lap.”

Together with the BJP, the Shiv Sena (undivided) ran in the 2019 Assembly elections; however, the former abandoned the coalition over the position of chief minister. Amit Shah claimed, “The act of cheating and betrayal was done by Uddhav Thackeray. The elections were contested in the name of Modi ji and Devendra ji and he sat in the lap of Congress to become chief minister.”

He claimed that Shiv Sainiks were fed up with Thackeray’s policies but were still hesitant to join the NCP led by Sharad Pawar. People must choose between Narendra Modi or Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi who will become the country’s prime minister in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, said, Amit Shah.

Mr. Shah claimed that the Shiv Sena, which is currently led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, got back its election symbol bow and arrow, and that the identity of the true Shiv Sena has been established.
