The administration in 11 districts of Telangana is on high alert following a heavy rain warning issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.
The state government has placed Adilabad, Jagityal, Kamareddy, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Medak, Medchal Malkajgiri, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Peddapalli, Sangareddy, and Siddipet districts under alert. The IMD has forecasted heavy rainfall for these areas on Tuesday, prompting Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to direct Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) to stay vigilant and implement precautionary measures to mitigate potential damage.
Authorities have advised residents in low-lying areas to take necessary precautions. The state expects additional rain, and some districts are still recovering from the heavy downpours and floods that began on Saturday.

Moreover, the state government has given district Collectors the authority to decide on declaring holidays for educational institutions. As a precaution, the Adilabad district Collector has already announced a holiday for all schools and colleges.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari conducted a teleconference with the Collectors and SPs of the affected districts. She instructed them to develop advance plans and adopt preventive measures to safeguard lives and property. Given the ongoing heavy rains, officials have been ordered to take coordinated action with police and other departments to address any emerging issues.
IMD Forecast
However, the IMD forecast also includes thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (30-40 km/h) for isolated areas in several districts, including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagityal, Rajanna Sirsilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, and Yadadri Bhuvangiri.
In response to the situation, the Nirmal district Collector will relocate people from low-lying areas to safer locations after the gates at the Swarna and Kadem projects open. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has dispatched a 31-member team, equipped with four boats, to Nirmal to assist with evacuation and response efforts.
Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari further directed officials to coordinate with Maharashtra authorities to monitor the flow of water from the catchment areas in Maharashtra and to take appropriate precautions based on the water levels.
