A crowd in Tamil Nadu beat a migrant worker thinking of him as a kidnapper. This is the fifth instance of a mob attacking a migrant worker on the grounds that they were perhaps kidnappers.
The incident occurred on Tuesday while the man was on a video call as he walked down the street.
A few individuals gathered and asked where he was, but the man, who was apparently drunk, was unable to respond. The man even refused to give up his phone when they asked to see it and turned it off.
The crowd started beating him because they thought he was a kidnapper, and then they called the police. Afterwards, the police recognized him as a Bihar-born migrant laborer.
After further inquiry, it was discovered that the man had turned off his phone while on a video conversation with a relative out of concern that the gang was attempting to take it.
Additionally, the police released him after rejecting the accusation that he was a kidnapper.
The police asked the public to ignore fake report that people from North India are trying to kidnap youngsters in the state.
