September 2: After Chandayaan-3 ISRO Set TO Launch Aditya-L1 Solar Mission

After Chandrayaan-3’s historic moon landing, The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set to launch Aditya-L1 mission(Solar space mission) on September 2. The goal of the Aditya-L1 mission is to study the Sun.

Nilesh M. Desai, Director, Space Applications Centre-ISRO, Ahmedabad, stated on Thursday that the Aditya-L1 mission is all set to launch.

ISRO PSLV will launch Aditya-L1 mission from Sriharikota’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR (SDSC SHAR).

Sun nearly being 15 lakh kilometers from Earth, Nilesh Desai stated that it will take 127 days for the spacecraft to get at its destination.

Aditya-L1 will be placed in a highly elliptical orbit for sun’s close observation in order to track solar activity, and increase knowledge of the star that supports life on Earth.

India’s ambitious effort to study the Sun, a celestial planet that has attracted scientists and space enthusiasts from a long time, is represented by the Aditya-L1 project.

The spacecraft will have Visible Emission Line Coronagraph (VELC) for imaging and spectroscopy of the Sun to increase understanding of the science powering the star.

The spacecraft will also include six additional instruments, in addition to VELC, that will study the Sun. Three payloads conduct in-situ investigations of particles and fields at the Lagrange point L1, while four payloads observe the sun directly from the exceptional vantage point of L1.

The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory Satellite SOHO from NASA is now based at the L1 point of the Earth-Sun system, which provides an uninterrupted view of the Sun.
