The Sarojini Nagar Sports League and MP Sports Festival began a new chapter with the grand opening of the Inter-School and Inter-Sports Club Football Championship.
The event aimed to promote discipline, sportsmanship, and team spirit among youth.
The inauguration ceremony was organised under the leadership of MLA Dr Rajeshwar Singh and the guidance of Rajya Sabha MP and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr Dinesh Sharma.
Both leaders attended the event, marking the official start of the eighth phase of the Sarojini Nagar Sports League.
The championship focuses on inspiring young players to engage in sports, discover their potential, and represent the region at higher levels.
Organisers said the event provides a strong platform for budding athletes to develop their skills and confidence.
Dr Rajeshwar Singh said the Sports League aims to build a culture of sports and fitness in Sarojini Nagar. “Sports bring unity and discipline. Our youth need opportunities to grow and shine at the national level,” he added.
The initiative has already conducted seven major tournaments, with over 10,000 participants benefiting through recognition, resources, and exposure.
The eighth edition continues this tradition by offering new opportunities to students and local clubs.
Dr Dinesh Sharma appreciated the sustained efforts to promote sports at the grassroots.
He said such events reflect Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to make India a sporting powerhouse.
“When we encourage youth in sports, we build a stronger and more united India,” he said.
The organisers urged media houses to actively cover the event and highlight the talent emerging from Sarojini Nagar.
The football championship stands as a symbol of passion, youth empowerment, and community development through sports.
