Rae Bareli doctor kills wife-2 children, later commits suicide

In Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, a doctor murdered his wife and their two kids before taking his own life. When one of his coworkers called the doctor, who was an eye specialist at the Modern Rail Coach Factory Hospital, and his family did not pick up, the incident was reported late on Tuesday.

Arun Kumar Singh, a 45-year-old Mirzapur native, was identified as the physician.

His wife, 40-year-old Archana, and their two small children, 12-year-old Ariba and 4-year-old Aarav, were discovered dead as well, following the police breaking down their door inside the hospital complex.

Superintendent of Police Alok Priyadarshi told news agency PTI that, on the face of it, the doctor appeared to have given his kids a drug injection to render them unconscious before killing them. He added that Singh was found hanging and the children had died from head injuries.

According to police, the doctor appeared to be depressed based on preliminary investigation.

Residents in the neighborhood claim that the family was last seen on Sunday, that is two days ago.
