Punjab Vigilance Bureau Nabs Patwari Accepting Rs 18000 Bribe

Punjab Vigilance Bureau nabbed a patwari and his private assistant taking a bribe of Rs 18000 on Tuesday, according to the sources.

The accused is identified as Gurpreet Singh, who was posted at Revenue Halqa Bhullar in Sri Muktsar Sahib district, was arrested when Gurpal Singh, a resident of village Bhullar complained about him as he demanded a bribe for transferring the ancestral land after the death of his father. The accused official asked complainant to transfer the money to his PA.

A Case has been filed under Prevention of Corruption Act against the patwari and his PA at the police station VB, Bathinda Range. Further investigaion is underway, according to the sources.

As per the reports total 16 accused have been arrested by the Vigilance Bureau in the illegal compensation scam.
