Prayagraj police have arrested two suspects in a case involving the alleged abduction, forcible religious conversion, and attempted radicalisation of a Dalit minor girl.
Investigators believe the scheme spans Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Kerala, and say additional arrests are likely.
Grooming and abduction from Prayagraj
According to Additional Police Commissioner Ajay Pal Sharma, a female suspect first befriended and psychologically influenced the girl in Prayagraj.
The perpetrators allegedly abducted the minor from Prayagraj railway station and transported her to Delhi, where she met additional conspirators.
Officers report that the girl was then moved to Kerala, where she was coerced into changing her religion.
During transit, a male suspect allegedly behaved inappropriately toward her; when she protested, the group silenced her and persuaded her to comply.
Investigators say the conspirators exposed the victim to individuals suspected of involvement in anti‑national activities, aiming to steer her toward extremist ideology.
“This appears to be an organised plot intended to undermine national stability,” Sharma said.
Ongoing probe & search for more suspects
Police teams in Uttar Pradesh and Kerala are tracing additional members of the network.
Technical evidence, including call records, is being analysed to map the operation’s full scope.
Authorities anticipate further revelations and arrests in the coming days.
The rescued girl is now in protective custody and receiving counselling.
Her testimony is helping police piece together the timeline and identify remaining suspects.
