Prime Minister Narendra Modi requested people to vote in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections in order to achieve a record turnout.
“Urging all those who are voting in today’s phase to vote in record numbers. Their active participation will certainly make the elections more vibrant,” PM Modi posted on X.
In today’s third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, both Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will cast their votes.
In the third round of the general election, polls for 93 Lok Sabha seats in 12 states and union territories started at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
The states and union territories where the elections are being held in this phase are Assam (4), Bihar (5), Chhattisgarh (7), Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (2), Goa (2), Gujarat (25), Karnataka (14), Maharashtra (11), Madhya Pradesh (8), Uttar Pradesh (10) and West Bengal (4). The BJP has bagged the Surat seat unopposed.
Over 1300 individuals, about 120 of whom are women, are competing in this phase.
Votes can be cast at 1.85 lakh polling booths by a total of 17.24 crore voters. According to the poll panel, 75 participants from 23 different nations will witness the voting procedure.
Elections for the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat in Jammu and Kashmir will not be held today. Instead, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has scheduled the polls for May 25 in the sixth phase. Voting on 94 Lok Sabha seats was originally planned for the third phase.
