PM Modi to cast vote tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to exercise his vote at Nishan Higher Secondary School in Ahmedabad during the third phase of Lok Sabha polls today. The school has been designated as a polling booth, and preparations for polling arrangements are currently underway.

Ahead of the voting day, a ‘Run for Vote’ marathon was organized in Ahmedabad to raise awareness among the youth about the significance of casting their votes in the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The marathon, part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) drive, aimed to promote the importance of achieving 100% voter turnout.

Ashok B Patel, Joint CEO of SVEEP, emphasized the need for voter awareness, stating that the marathon was organized to encourage youth to participate in the electoral process on May 7

The Election Commission has been actively running campaigns to encourage higher voter turnout in the current Lok Sabha election.

In the previous Lok Sabha polls of 2014 and 2019, the BJP secured victory in all 26 seats in Gujarat. However, this time, the Congress has formed an alliance with the AAP and will contest from 24 seats, while the AAP will contest in Bhavnagar and Bharuch constituencies.

Voting for 25 out of 26 seats in Gujarat is scheduled to take place in the third phase of the ongoing general elections on May 7. This phase encompasses various constituencies across the state, including Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad East, Ahmedabad West, and several others.

Notably, there will be no voting in Surat as BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal was declared elected unopposed last week. This decision came after the nomination of Congress’ Nilesh Kumbhani was rejected, and other candidates withdrew from the contest.

The election results for Gujarat and other states participating in this phase will be announced on June 4.
