PM Modi speaks with the King of Jordan: both share concerns on terrorism, loss of civilian lives

Amid the Israel-Hamas confrontation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with King Abdullah II of Jordan. The two leaders expressed concerns over terrorism, bloodshed, and the death toll of civilians.
On X, Modi stated that coordinated measures are required to resolve the security and humanitarian crisis as soon as possible.
“Had a conversation with Jordan’s King Abdullah II. discussed the changes that have occurred in the West Asian region. Our fears about violence, terrorism, and the death toll among civilians are similar. He stated that “coordinated efforts are required for an early resolution of the security and humanitarian situation.”

Following an assault on the nation by militants linked to Hamas that claimed hundreds of lives, many of them civilians, Israel launched an invasion of the Gaza Strip, which is under Hamas control.
After five Gaza wars for both sides, this one is the bloodiest. It entered its 17th day on Monday. 15,270 Palestinians have been injured and at least 5,087 have died, according to the Health Ministry, which is controlled by Hamas.

The escalating confrontation between Israel and Hamas occurred at the same time as PM Modi’s conversation with the King. One of the bloodiest attacks on a single day since the state of Israel was founded 75 years ago occurred on October 7, when the Palestinian organization launched an attack on Israel that claimed over 1400 lives and took over 200 captives.
Israel began a full-scale assault against Hamas-fired strikes in retaliation for these acts. At least 5,087 Palestinians, including 2,055 children, have sadly lost their lives during the two weeks of nonstop bombardment.

In the meantime, India donated medical supplies and disaster relief items to the Palestinian people on Sunday. Yesterday, an IAF C-17 aircraft headed for El-Arish airport in Egypt with approximately 6.5 tonnes of medical supplies and 32 tonnes of disaster relief supplies for the Palestinian people. The medical supplies include critical medications that can save lives as well as surgical and protective equipment meant to treat urgent medical situations.
