PM Narendra Modi met Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Thursday to advance bilateral cooperation.
The two leaders discussed strengthening ties in finance, digital innovation, skill development, civil aviation, maritime cooperation, and space technology. Officials said the talks are expected to result in the signing of several high-level agreements.
EAM Jaishankar Meets PM Wong Ahead of Talks
Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Wong and reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening ties with Singapore.
Sharing his remarks on X, Jaishankar wrote, “Pleased to call on PM @LawrenceWongST of Singapore this morning in Delhi. Appreciate his constant encouragement for the strengthening of India-Singapore ties. Confident that his talks later today with PM @narendramodi will chart a roadmap for our contemporary ties.”

Singapore PM Wong Highlights Regional and Global Cooperation
PM Wong also posted on X after his meeting with Jaishankar, noting, “With India External Affairs Minister @DrSJaishankar — we discussed regional & global developments, and the good progress in India-SG cooperation.”

This is Wong’s first visit to India since assuming office. He is accompanied by his wife, cabinet ministers, and senior officials. After he meets with PM Modi, Wong will call on President Droupadi Murmu.
On Tuesday, Wong met Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to explore cooperation in healthcare and finance.
Visit Marks 60 Years of Diplomatic Relations
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described Singapore as an important partner in India’s Act East Policy. It recalled that during PM Modi’s visit to Singapore in September 2024, bilateral ties were elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Marking the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties, the MEA said, “The visit will provide an opportunity for both Prime Ministers to review our robust and multifaceted cooperation and to set the path for future collaboration. The two Prime Ministers will also engage on regional and international issues of mutual interest.”
