PM Narendra Modi and President Droupadi Murmu extended heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of Baisakhi and other regional harvest festivals being celebrated across India from April 13 to 15.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Modi conveyed his wishes on Baisakhi, a festival that marks the Punjabi and Sikh New Year and the start of the harvest season. Celebrated mainly in Punjab and other parts of North India, Baisakhi is known for its vibrant festivities and cultural significance.
In a post on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote, “Wishing everyone a joyous Baisakhi! May this festival bring new hope, happiness, and abundance into your life. May we always celebrate the spirit of togetherness, gratitude, and renewal.”

President Murmu Greets Citizens On Multiple Regional Festivals
On Saturday, President Murmu extended greetings ahead of several harvest festivals, including Vaisakhi and Vishu.
People across different states are observing these festivals on April 13, 14, and 15.
President Murmu addressed Indians both within the country and abroad, stating, “On the auspicious occasion of Vaisakhi, Vishu, Bohag Bihu, Poila Boishakh, Meshadi, Vaishakhadi, and Puthandu Pirapu, I extend my heartfelt greetings to all Indians living in India and abroad.”
Festivals Reflect India’s Unity in Diversity
Highlighting the cultural significance of these celebrations, President Murmu emphasized that these harvest festivals embody the essence of India’s unity in diversity and its rich social traditions.
“These festivals celebrated at the time of harvest in various parts of India symbolise our social traditions and unity in diversity. Through these festivals, we honor the hard work of our ‘Annadata’ farmers and express our gratitude to them. These festivals also give the message of preserving nature and protecting our cultural legacy,” she said.
Celebrating the Spirit of Harvest and Renewal
Baisakhi and other regional harvest festivals, such as Vishu (Kerala), Bohag Bihu (Assam), Poila Boishakh (West Bengal), and Puthandu (Tamil Nadu) usher in the regional New Year and celebrate the bounty of the harvest with joy, rituals, and community gatherings.
These festivals not only mark agricultural abundance but also reinforce the spirit of renewal, gratitude, and cultural heritage that unite the diverse communities of India.
