PM Modi-Indian Players’ Meet Trending on social media despite politics over World Cup loss

Team India lost in the final match of World Cup 2023 against Australia. After the defeat when all the team players’ including captain Rohit Sharma and King Virat Kohli, everyone’s eyes were filled with sadness.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the dressing room of his players to encourage them. He met all the players and asked them to leave disappointment.

However, Congress did not fall behind in taking a dig at PM Modi for India’s defeat at the World Cup 2023. Calling PM Modi ‘panuati'(one who brings bad luck) indirectly, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, “Our boys were on the verge of winning the World Cup, till some unlucky person or bad omen came to watch it (Acche bhale hamare ladke wahan pe World Cup jeet jaate, par panauti harwa diya).”

Despite all the politics, his meeting with players is trending on social media. The video has gathered 58.3 million views in a single day. Team India players also took to X and thanked Indian citizens and PM Modi for their support and encouragement.

“We had a great tournament, but we ended up short yesterday. We are all heartbroken, but the support of our people is keeping us going. PM @narendramodi’s visit to the dressing room yesterday was special and very motivating,” said Jadeja, accompanied by a picture with Modi.

Shami posted a picture with the Prime Minister on X and said, “Unfortunately, yesterday was not our day. I would like to thank all Indians for supporting our team and me throughout the tournament. Thankful to PM @narendramodi for specially coming to the dressing room and raising our spirits. We will bounce back!”
