Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav
Pilibhit: Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav stated on Friday that the BJP administration at the Centre repealed the three black agricultural rules after understanding farmers’ power. At a gathering here in favour of party candidate Bhagwat Saran Gangwar, Yadav also stated that the people of Pilibhit are determined to defeat the BJP, and the saffron party is terrified. Yadav claimed that when BJP supporters hear the term Pilibhit, their faces turn ‘peela’ (yellow).
This is Yadav’s first political rally in Uttar Pradesh since the elections were declared. The former chief minister also assailed the BJP government on electoral bonds and demonetisation.
“Tell me if this electoral bond and demonetisation are not strategies to convert black money to white,” he asked. He argued that they had converted all of their black money to white. Gangwar faces Jitin Prasada of the BJP and Anis Ahmed of the BSP in this election.
Prasada, a cabinet member in Uttar Pradesh’s government, was handed a ticket to replace current MP Varun Gandhi in the seat. As part of the INDIA coalition, the Samajwadi Party, Congress, and All India Trinamool Congress are fighting the Uttar Pradesh elections. Pilibhit, which has over 18 lakh voters, will vote in the first round of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections on April 19.
