Congress used PhonePe’s logo and name to target Madhya Pradesh’s Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in a poster, the company objected its usage urged the grand old party to take down. PhonePe also warned Congress of legal action.
The poster had MP’s Chief Minister photo with PhonePe’s name and logo which said, “50% laao, PhonePe kaam karao (pay 50% commission to get your work done)”. The poster was first shared by the twitter handle of Congress state Unit which were found lately on walls of Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Sehore, Rewa, Mandsaur, Ujjain, Bhind, Balaghat, Budhni and some other cities.
PhonePe took to twitter to object the use of its name and logo said, “The PhonePe logo is a registered trademark of our company and any unauthorized use of PhonePe’s intellectual property rights will invite legal action. We humbly request to remove the posters and banners featuring our brand logo and colour.”
Further clarifying the fact that the company is not politically associated with any party PhonePe tweeted, “PhonePe objects to the unauthorized usage of its brand logo, by any third party, be it political or non-political. We are not associated with any political campaign or party.”
However, BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra blamed congress of playing dirty politics, according to ANI he said, “The dirty politics of Congress has come to the fore. Nothing to say after the ‘Phone Pe’ tweet. The public knows that you are blaming others to hide your corruption.”
