Virendra Sehwag on Virat Kohli
With the release of the big event’s itinerary, the countdown to the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 has begun. India would be eager to seize the chance to end their lack of ICC trophies after last winning the World Cup when it was mostly staged at home. The 2011 squad wanted to win the World Cup for Sachin Tendulkar, and Virender Sehwag, a former star of India, wants the team to strive to accomplish the same for Virat Kohli.
In a conversation on Star Sports following the release of the World Cup schedule, Sehwag emphasized how Kohli is not only a brilliant player but also a person who constantly strives to help people.
“Virat Kohli needs everyone to win this World Cup. He always helps other players because he is a terrific athlete and a great human being, he remarked.
Additionally, Sehwag compared Kohli to Tendulkar, noting how both players consistently gave it their all on the pitch.
“Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar are comparable. He plays, talks, and approaches the game in various ways. His drive and passion are astounding. He consistently gave 100%. He assists cricket players, and he excels at everything.
“Whenever Virat Kohli competes in significant competitions, he gives everything—and then some—more than anyone else on the squad. He will undoubtedly be enthusiastic about this country. And every time he participates in this world cup, a lot of people will support and clap for him.
Sehwag responded that it was very likely that Kohli would surpass Tendulkar’s record for the most tonnes scored in ODI World Cups.
“Perhaps. I constantly tell my kids to take lessons from Virat Kohli. He plays all the way to the end and never throws his wicket,” he remarked.
