One Of 17 Indian Crew Members Aboard On Israeli Ship Seized By Iran Returns India

One of the 17 Indian crew members aboard on Israeli-owned ship seized by Iran has returned home safely. Cadet Ann Tessa Joseph, a resident of Thrissur, Kerala, who was part of the Indian crew aboard the cargo ship MSC Aries, reached Cochin today. The Ministry of External Affairs has given this information. The Ministry of External Affairs is in touch with Iranian authorities regarding the well-being of the remaining crew members of MSC Aries, the Indian mission in Tehran.

Regional passport officer welcomed

This is being considered a major diplomatic victory for New Delhi. Ann Tessa Joseph, from Thrissur, Kerala, was one of the 17 Indian crew members of the Israeli-owned cargo ship ‘MSC Aries’, which was captured by Iran. The Indian deck cadet landed at Cochin International Airport on Thursday afternoon where she was welcomed by the Regional Passport Officer, Cochin. The Indian Embassy in Iran, in collaboration with Iranian authorities, facilitated his return.

Foreign Minister talked about Modi’s guarantee

Expressing happiness about this, Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar tweeted, “Very good work by the Indian Embassy in Iran. Glad that Ms Ann Tessa Joseph reached home. Modi’s guarantee always works in India or abroad.”

In the wake of the seizure of the container ship, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke to his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, raising the issue of the release of the 17 Indian crew members. Earlier, the two leaders discussed the current situation in West Asia and stressed the importance of avoiding tension. The Ministry of External Affairs said the Indian mission in Tehran was in touch with the remaining 16 Indian crew members of the ship, which is currently under Iranian control.

16 other members in better health

The Foreign Ministry release said that the crew members are in good health and are in touch with their family members. The Ministry of External Affairs said, “The Indian Mission in Tehran is aware of the matter and is in touch with the remaining 16 Indian crew members of the container ship. The crew members are in good health and are in touch with their family members in India.”
