On Monday, The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids at 9 locations in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces are collaborating in conducting the ongoing raids at various sites.
These operations stem from a case registered by the agency in 2022.
In June 2022, the NIA registered case RC-05/2022/NIA/JMU to investigate the involvement of cadres, overground workers. These activities include the distribution of sticky bombs, IEDs, funds, narcotics, and arms. The aim is to incite terror and violence in Jammu and Kashmir.
Based on precise intelligence received regarding particular suspects residing in Srinagar, the counter-terrorism agency initiated search operations.
Nearly a month after indicting two suspects in the Kokernag (Jammu and Kashmir) encounter case, the NIA carried out the search operation.
According to reports, individuals involved in the case have affiliations with The Resistant Front, identified as a derivative of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Both Lashkar-e-Taiba and The Resistant Front have persistently encouraged and recruited Kashmiri youth in the name of Jihad.
These two groups are using social media platforms like Twitter, Telegram, and YouTube channels to promote their agenda.
Formed in the early 1990s, LeT is the largest terrorist group. It is actively engaged in reviving the network in the Anantnag area.
It is working through various offshoots in the Jammu and Kashmir region.
