A joint team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) raided Deoband on Saturday, detaining one individual. The operation took place near Bada Darwaza in Mohalla Khankah. Sources indicate that the suspect is originally from Bihar and had received training at a local madrasa in 2008. At the time of his arrest, he worked at a Qutubkhana (bookshop).
ATS Operations Continue in Meerut
In related activities, the ATS also conducted a raid in Meerut, detaining three youths. After questioning, the authorities released two of the individuals and took one suspect with them. Reports suggest that the detained youth’s wife accompanied him during the interrogation but was released later. The NIA confiscated a laptop from the detained individual for further investigation.
Ongoing Investigations and Past Raids
NIA sources have previously conducted raids in Maharashtra, Malegaon, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, and Delhi, resulting in multiple detentions. Although the specifics of this case remain unconfirmed, the suspect’s detention is believed to stem from earlier interrogations.
