NEET-PG Exam Postponed Amid Growing Controversy And Exam Irregularities

The NEET-PG exam, originally scheduled for tomorrow, has been postponed, according to a statement released today by the Health Ministry. The postponement follows a significant controversy over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams. The government has decided to thoroughly assess the robustness of the NEET-PG examination process, which is conducted by the National Board of Examination for medical students.

“To ensure the integrity of the NEET-PG exam, we have decided, as a precautionary measure, to postpone the scheduled exam on June 23. A new date will be announced as soon as possible,” the Health Ministry stated, expressing regret for the inconvenience caused to students.

This decision aims to protect students’ interests and uphold the examination’s integrity. Just an hour before the postponement announcement, the government issued an order replacing the chief of the National Testing Agency (NTA), which oversees the NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams. Subodh Kumar Singh, the former NTA director general, has been replaced by retired IAS officer Pradeep Singh Kharola, highlighting the government’s intent to address the issues within the NTA.

With the upcoming parliamentary session, the government is preparing for extensive scrutiny regarding the controversies associated with these crucial exams for medical and higher education teaching positions. Earlier today, the Education Ministry also established a high-level committee of experts to recommend reforms in the examination process, data security protocols, and the overall structure and functioning of the NTA.
