The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Wednesday adopted a resolution marking 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led Union government, describing the period as a defining phase of ‘people-centric development, participative democracy and performance-oriented governance’.
A high-level NDA meeting in New Delhi adopted the resolution. Alliance partners also congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion. He became the longest-serving democratically elected Prime Minister in consecutive terms after completing 4,399 days in office.
Moved by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and seconded by Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the resolution received support from several NDA leaders, including Jitan Ram Manjhi, HD Kumaraswamy, Eknath Shinde, Chirag Paswan, Jayant Chaudhary, Vishnu Deo Sai, Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh. Union Minister Anupriya Patel read out the resolution.
The alliance said the past 12 years witnessed several major structural reforms. These included the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), labour reforms, the repeal of obsolete laws, banking sector recapitalisation and a decline in non-performing assets.
According to the resolution, India has transitioned from being grouped among the ‘Fragile Five’ economies to becoming one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies. It also credited the government with strengthening sectors such as semiconductors, renewable energy, drones, space technology and advanced manufacturing.
The NDA highlighted the expansion of digital infrastructure, particularly the Unified Payments Interface (UPI). It also pointed to railway modernisation, Vande Bharat trains, airport connectivity under the UDAN scheme and multimodal transport projects.
The resolution underscored welfare programmes, claiming that more than 25 crore people have moved out of multidimensional poverty. It cited initiatives including PM-Kisan, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Drone Didi, PM-JANMAN, housing, sanitation and financial inclusion schemes.
The NDA also highlighted its record on defence and security. It cited surgical strikes, air strikes and Operation Sindoor among its major achievements. The alliance also referred to the creation of the Chief of Defence Staff post and the implementation of One Rank One Pension.
The alliance also pointed to India’s growing global influence through diplomatic outreach and vaccine diplomacy. It further highlighted the promotion of the International Day of Yoga and efforts to popularise millets worldwide.
Reaffirming its commitment to ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’, the NDA pledged to continue working towards inclusive development and cooperative federalism.
