The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Parliamentary Party on Tuesday reaffirmed its support for the strategic shifts made under the Modi government in addressing national security challenges, describing them as the ‘new normal’ for India’s approach to terrorism and cross-border threats.
During a high-level meeting in Delhi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and NDA members honoured Prime Minister Narendra Modi, garlanding him amid chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and enthusiastic applause.
In his address, PM Modi criticised the Opposition for its stance following the Pahalgam attacks, calling their demands for a debate on Operation Sindoor ‘a case of shooting themselves in the foot’.
Core Principles of India’s Security Policy
At the meeting, NDA leaders outlined three core principles guiding India’s new security posture:
- India will respond to any terrorist attack with decisive and targeted action.
- India will not accept nuclear blackmail of any kind.
- Terrorists, their masterminds, and their sponsors will treated alike and face strong retaliation.
The NDA passed a resolution on Operation Sindoor, praising the Prime Minister’s ‘unwavering resolve, visionary statesmanship and resolute command’, noting that his leadership has strengthened national unity and pride.
The resolution also highlighted the government’s extensive global outreach following Operation Sindoor.
According to NDA leaders, “After Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister ensured 59 Members of Parliament from across parties visited 32 countries to present India’s point of view. This is one of the most comprehensive global outreach ever launched by India, highlighting how the country has been a victim of terror and why a terror attack in any part of the world is a crime against humanity across the globe.”
This diplomatic push, they said, has yielded significant results.
One major success cited was the United States’ designation of The Resistance Front (TRF), a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy, as a banned terrorist group, a move seen as a direct outcome of India’s growing diplomatic influence.
The NDA also welcomed the BRICS joint declaration condemning the Pahalgam attack, a notable development given China’s presence in the grouping.
The statement marked a diplomatic win, reflecting India’s firm international stance against terrorism from Pakistan.
