Muzaffarnagar Slapping Case: Alt News Co-Founder Mohammed Zubair Booked By UP Police For Revealing Minor’s Identity

Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair is booked by Uttar Pradesh Police for allegedly spreading information of Muslim boy who was slapped by his classmates on his teacher’s order earlier.

An FIR was filed by the police against the journalist under section 74 of the Juvenile Justice Act on Vishnu Datt’s complaint. Zubair posted a clear image of the minor, a seven-year-old boy along with other students who slapped him following action was taken him.

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Chairperson Priyank Kanoongo asked the students not to share the video further. In view of this Zubair deleted the post and wrote, “Deleted the video because NCPCR wanted people to delete the video.”

After witnessing nationwide outrage, Muzaffarnagar school teacher Tipti Tyagi accused of making communal statements and ordering class students to slap a muslim student for not doing homework was booked by police on Saturday.

Tripti was booked under the IPC sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace). These are bailable offences and the accused is not arrested immediately. The school was also served a notice by the education department in connection with the matter.
