Mihir Shah, the main accused in the Worli BMW hit-and-run case, was sent to judicial custody by a Mumbai court until July 30. The 24-year-old son of a Shiv Sena politician was arrested for allegedly ramming his BMW into a two-wheeler, resulting in the death of 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa. Her husband, Pradip Nakhwa, was injured in the incident, which occurred at 5:30 am on Worli’s arterial Annie Besant Road.
According to the police investigation, Mihir Shah allegedly sped off towards the Bandra-Worli Sea Link while Kaveri Nakhwa remained on the bonnet of the car. She eventually got entangled in its wheels and was dragged for more than 1.5 kilometers.
A Mumbai Police official claimed that Shah was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. To gather more information about the chain of events, a Mumbai Police team recreated the accident scene. They also confronted Mihir Shah with his family driver and co-accused, Rajrishi Bidawat, who was in the car during the accident. The police alleged that Bidawat swapped seats with Mihir on the instruction of Shiv Sena politician Rajesh Shah.
