Outnumbering their male counterparts
Adding a twist to the sex ratio the Chief Justice of India (CJI) D. Y. Chandrachud today said that female judges are outnumbering their male counterparts in the lower courts of the nation. This has taken place due to some decisions taken 15 years ago.

CJI has given an example of lower courts in Maharashtra where among 75 judges 42 are women. Incidentally every 75 judges of Maharashtra were present in the Apex court when CJI has given this statement.
“Previously the system wasn’t like this. It all changed due to circumstances and decisions made 15 years ago. And we all has to comply by it,” said Chandrachud. “A pool was formed due to these circumstances and decisions taken and we have to select from the pool. Where two are doctorates, some are gymnasts, some are Warli artists,” he added.

Chandrachud is noted for his straight forward comments and he has exactly done the same. Now it up to the concerned persons to take stock of the situation and rectify things if found necessary.
One thing is certain, if the women judges prove to be efficient from their male counterparts then there there is absolutely no requirement to change the system. As now, it’s the age of equality and days of male dominated society is no more now.
