Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has issued strict directives to ensure the smooth flow of traffic and the safety of devotees attending the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
Following an unfortunate incident at the event on Mauni Amavasya, CM Yogi conducted a late-night video conference with senior police officers and district officials from Prayagraj, Varanasi, Ayodhya, Mirzapur, and other surrounding districts.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for uninterrupted traffic, clear exit routes, and enhanced vigilance across key areas, prioritizing the safety and comfort of the large influx of devotees.
Maha Kumbh: Key Directives On Traffic & Crowd Management
CM Yogi made it clear that both the Mela area and the routes leading to and from Prayagraj should always remain free of congestion.
He instructed the authorities to maintain continuous patrolling and ensure smooth traffic flow on major roads including Ayodhya-Prayagraj, Kanpur-Prayagraj, Lucknow-Pratapgarh-Prayagraj, and Varanasi-Prayagraj.
Authorities in the bordering districts were urged to constantly coordinate with Prayagraj’s administration to manage crowds and traffic effectively.
To further streamline the situation, CM Yogi directed that all unnecessary halts within the Mela area be avoided, and any crowd buildup should be prevented at various locations. He also instructed the relocation of street vendors occupying pathways, to ensure that there is no obstruction to the flow of traffic.
Enhanced Transport & Safety Arrangements
In a bid to facilitate the safe return of devotees, CM Yogi emphasized the importance of smooth operations at Prayagraj’s railway stations, where many devotees are awaiting trains.
Authorities have been instructed to ensure seamless coordination with the railways to ensure continuous train services. Furthermore, additional buses from the Transport Corporation will be deployed to accommodate the rush of passengers.
Holding areas have been set up at border points to manage crowd pressure, with proper food, drinking water, and uninterrupted electricity arrangements to ensure the convenience of devotees. These arrangements are critical to maintain smooth operations and prevent any inconvenience to the attendees.
Maha Kumbh: Heightened Security Measures & Vigilance
Given the high volume of visitors, CM Yogi has also instructed authorities to strengthen security across key cities such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, and Chitrakoot, where many devotees are headed for darshan and worship. Continuous monitoring and precautionary measures will be implemented to regulate crowd flow and avoid any disruption.
In addition, CM Yogi deployed former Divisional Commissioner Ashish Goyal and former ADA Vice Chairman Bhanu Goswami to assist in managing the Maha Kumbh.
