Light rain fell across Delhi-NCR on Tuesday morning, bringing relief from pollution and a slight drop in temperature. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted showers throughout the day due to a fresh western disturbance affecting the region.
The IMD expects the rain to subside by Wednesday, February 5. However, fog levels may rise, and isolated areas could experience dense fog. The department has also warned of a possible thunderstorm on Tuesday.
Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 12°C, which is above the February average. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 21°C.

The rain has improved air quality, but pollution remains in the ‘Poor’ category. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), AQI levels at 7 a.m. stood at 265 in Chandni Chowk, 232 at ITO, 132 on Lodhi Road, and 228 on Sri Aurobindo Marg. Post-rainfall, air quality is expected to improve further.
In Haryana, Gurugram recorded an AQI of 302 in the ‘Very Poor’ category, while Faridabad’s AQI stood at 217 in the ‘Poor’ category.
Last week, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) enforced Stage 3 measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) after AQI levels crossed 350, triggering stricter pollution controls.
The IMD has forecast a brief rise in minimum temperatures across northwest India for the next two days, followed by a 2-3°C drop over the next three days. Another western disturbance is expected to impact northern India from February 8, bringing further temperature fluctuations.
Rainfall will also continue in the western Himalayan region and several parts of northwest India until February 5. Weather patterns remain dynamic, so residents should be prepared for further showers and temperature shifts in the coming days.
