Concerns have been raised regarding the severe actions taken against farmers during the ongoing movement, particularly focusing on incidents where pellet guns have been used, resulting in several farmers losing their eyesight. The Haryana Government and the Central Government have been accused of resorting to extreme measures, including the use of Athru gas shells dropped from drones and firing bullets at unarmed and peaceful protestors.

According to reports, three farmers have already lost their eyesight, with around two dozen more currently undergoing treatment for pellet gun injuries, while approximately 400 individuals have been injured in total. This situation has sparked widespread condemnation, with calls for immediate intervention to halt the ongoing harassment faced by farmers.

The letter underscores the need to put an end to the use of pellet guns and other violent tactics against protestors, allowing them the space to exercise their rights and voice their grievances against both corporate interests and governmental policies.

Furthermore, it criticizes the disparity between the treatment of farmers domestically versus internationally, noting that while farmers are allowed to protest in foreign capitals, they are met with resistance and suppression within India. This stark contrast highlights the failure of current models of development and justice, particularly in addressing the needs and concerns of marginalized communities like farmers.

The letter also sheds light on the biased portrayal of farmers by certain sections of the media, labeling them as villains and perpetuating false narratives to justify the excessive use of force by authorities. Moreover, it criticizes the lack of action by the Punjab government in addressing the atrocities committed against farmers within its jurisdiction.

Overall, the letter serves as a plea for justice and solidarity with the farmers who are facing severe hardships and repression in their pursuit of fair treatment and recognition of their rights.
