PM Modi to Inaugurate and Lay Foundation Stones for Development Projects Worth Rs 30,500 Crore During Jammu Visit on February 20.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Jammu on February 20, where he will inaugurate, dedicate to the nation, and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over Rs 30,500 crore at a public function at the Maulana Azad Stadium. These projects span across various sectors, including rail, road, aviation, petroleum, civic infrastructure, education, and health.

Additionally, during his visit, PM Modi will distribute appointment letters to approximately 1500 fresh Government recruits from Jammu and Kashmir. He will also engage with beneficiaries of government schemes as part of the ‘Viksit Bharat Jammu’ program.

Education sector

PM Modi is set to inaugurate, lay foundation stones, and dedicate to the nation projects worth Rs 13,375 crore, as part of his initiative to enhance and develop education and skilling infrastructure nationwide. The projects include the permanent campuses of IIT Tirupati, IIT Bhilai, IITDM Kancheepuram, an advanced technology skill training institute (IIS) in Kanpur, and two campuses of Central Sanskrit University in Agartala and Devprayag.

Additionally, PM Modi will inaugurate three new IIMs in Bodh Gaya, Jammu, and Vishakhapatnam, along with 20 new Kendriya Vidyalaya buildings and 13 new Navodaya Vidyalayas nationwide. Furthermore, he will lay the foundation stones for five Kendriya Vidyalayas, a Navodyay Vidyalaya campus, and five multipurpose halls for Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country.

AIIMS Jammu

PM Modi will additionally inaugurate AIIMS Vijaypur (Samba), Jammu, which had its foundation stone laid in February 2019 under the Central sector scheme Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana.

Costing over 1660 crore and spread across 227 acres, the hospital boasts 720 beds, a nursing college with 60 seats, a medical college with 125 seats, accommodations for undergraduate and postgraduate students, an auditorium, a night shelter, a shopping complex, and a guest house.

New Terminal Building at Jammu Airport

Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for a new terminal building at Jammu Airport, covering an expansive 40,000 sqm area. This modern facility, designed to accommodate up to 2000 passengers during peak hours, is intended to enhance air connectivity, stimulate trade and tourism, and propel economic growth in the region.

Rail projects

PM Modi will also dedicate several rail projects in Jammu and Kashmir aimed at enhancing connectivity, stimulating overall economic growth, and promoting environmental sustainability. These projects encompass the newly electrified Baramulla-Srinagar-Banihal-Sangaldan section, along with a new rail line connecting Banihal-Khari-Sumber-Sangaldan. Additionally, the prime minister will inaugurate the first Electric train in the valley and launch train services between Baramulla and Sangaldan station.

Road projects

PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for several road projects, including two segments of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway linking Jammu to Katra. Additionally, five packages aimed at upgrading the 161 km long Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri stretch of NH-01 will be initiated. Moreover, the foundation stone for phase two of the four-laning of the Srinagar Ring Road, as well as the construction of the Kulgam Bypass and Pulwama Bypass on NH-444, will be laid by PM Modi.

CUF Petroleum depot

PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for a cutting-edge, fully automated Common User Facility Petroleum depot in Jammu. This project, costing approximately Rs 677 crore, will boast a storage capacity of about 100,000 KL. It will cater to storing Superior Kerosene Oil, Motor Spirit, Aviation Turbine Fuel, High-Speed Diesel, winter-grade HSD, and Ethanol.

Other projects

PM Modi will also inaugurate a range of projects including Common Effluent Treatment Plants and Sewage Treatment Plants, an Intelligent Traffic Management system in Srinagar city, road projects, bridges, receiving stations transmission line projects, degree college buildings, and a Drug Testing Laboratory in Kathua, among others.

Furthermore, the development of five new Industrial Estates across Jammu and Kashmir, the up-gradation of Transport Nagar at Parimpora Srinagar, and the establishment of a Data Centre/Disaster Recovery Centre for the Integrated Command and Control Centre of Jammu Smart City will be initiated by PM Modi.

Additionally, transit accommodation comprising 2816 flats at nine locations in districts Anantnag, Kulgam, Kupwara, Shopian, and Pulwama will also be initiated by PM Modi.
