Jharkhand Secretariat Employees Go On Mass Leave, Work Comes To Standstill

Despite discussions between Secretary Praveen Toppo and the Jharkhand Secretariat Service Association, no agreement was reached

Jharkhand

Employees of the Jharkhand Secretariat Service have started a three-day mass leave from Tuesday. They are demanding promotions and the creation of new posts at various levels. The mass leave has brought work at the Secretariat and Directorate to a standstill, and will continue until September 12.

Despite discussions between Secretary Praveen Toppo and the Jharkhand Secretariat Service Association, no agreement was reached.

Secretariat Operations Halt

Officials, including branch officers and joint secretaries, have joined the mass leave, leaving key government offices in Ranchi nearly non-operational. While some IAS and JAS officers reported for duty, they were unable to proceed due to the absence of staff.

Protesters also staged a demonstration outside the Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms, and Official Language.

Call for Government Action

Association President Dhruv Prasad stated that Chief Minister Hemant Soren had promised the creation of Deputy and Joint Secretary posts for promotions. However, no changes have been implemented. General Secretary Siddharth Besra warned of further action if the government does not respond positively by the end of the mass leave. Previous protests took place in June over similar issues.
