Indian Trailblazer’s Rare Feat: Prayagraj Anurag’s Sharma Becomes First Indian To Complete 126 Km Mountain Ultra-Race In Spain!

Prayagraj: Meet Anurag Sharma (45) is the first Indian to complete a grueling 126-kilometer mountain ultra-race in Spain! We’d like to draw your attention to an excellent achievement within the Indian trail running community. His search for improved health led to a change and inspiration. Anurag, the founder and director of an IT firm, also leads a running organization called CRC (Crossings Runners Club) that has 200 active members. He attended school and college in Prayagraj; his father worked in Naini, where they lived for almost two decades. It all started with an idea toward the end of July 2023, which grew from a mere thought to a powerful aim and desire.

The “Trans Gran Canaria Classic 2024 Spain” was chosen as the challenge, a hard 126km mountain ultra race with an elevation gain of over 6800 meters that is part of the global trail major in Gran Canaria, Spain. The participant starts their journey from the northern tip of Gran Canaria and runs the full length of the island, passing through several mountains and tough terrains before arriving at the southern end.

The effort to complete such a gigantic task necessitates a statement beyond description. It took nearly seven months of unwavering effort, blood, sweat, and tears, to become the first and only Indian to reach this milestone.

After enduring two nights of continuous running to achieve all 11 cut-offs on time, he completed proudly with the Indian flag in hand, adding to India’s participation at the top of international extreme trail running. Notably, this year’s Did Not Finish (DNF) percentage was 40%, making his accomplishment even more admirable.

Anurag has pushed the frontiers of what is possible, and it all started with a desire to improve his health. His story has inspired numerous people to believe in their own potential and follow their objectives with steadfast persistence. Anurag’s path teaches us that every struggle is an opportunity for growth.

His astonishing achievements continue to encourage us all to aspire for the heavens and embrace the extraordinary inside ourselves. He still enjoys visiting Prayagraj, and his visit routine comprises a long jogging circle that includes stops at his school in Naini, the Old Yamuna Bridge, and Civil Lines.
