Utkarsh Celebration: Adani Vidya Mandir Students Pledge to Plant Over 25,000 Saplings to Promote Sustainable Development

Students of Adani Vidya Mandir, Bhadreshwar (AVMB), came together for their 12th annual day celebration, themed ‘Utkarsh’, dedicated to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At the heart of the event was a pledge by 600 students to plant over 25,000 saplings within three years, both on the school premises and in surrounding areas, including mangroves along the coast.

Promoting Harmony with Nature

‘Utkarsh’ served as a platform for students to creatively showcase the essence and importance of all 17 SDGs through various mediums such as working models, skits, songs, and poetry, emphasizing living in harmony with nature.

AVMB’s focuses on integrating sensitive and critical lessons, including moral and value education, aims to nurture responsible citizens of the country and the world.

The event, meticulously organized by teachers, also aimed to raise awareness among guests about the significance of preserving coastal biodiversity, particularly in the fragile ecosystem of Kutch, grappling with the effects of climate change.

Dr. Priti Adani, Chairperson of the Adani Foundation, commended the students’ commitment to the planet, reflecting the values instilled by the school. Mr. Chetan Misan, SDM, Mundra, and Mr. Jugeshinder (‘Robbie’) Singh, CFO of Adani Group, also praised the students’ performances and knowledge, expressing confidence in their potential as future leaders.

Support for Underprivileged Communities

Under the Adani Foundation’s umbrella, AVMB has provided free education since 2012 to children from socio-economically marginalized communities, especially fisherfolk, in the Kutch region. The school’s efforts have been recognized with the “Education Excellence – Empowering India Awards 2024”.
