Indian Army Foils Drone, Ceasefire Violations Along LoC Under Ongoing ‘Operation Sindoor’

The Indian Army announced that it successfully countered multiple drone intrusions and ceasefire violations by Pakistan during the intervening night of 8 and 9 May along the western border and the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

In a post on X, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) confirmed that the drone threats were ‘effectively neutralised’ and that Pakistan’s ceasefire violations received a firm response.

The Army further clarified that these defensive actions were part of ‘Operation Sindoor’, which began early Wednesday. So far, the operation has led to the neutralisation of nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Taking to X, the ADG PI posted, “Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along entire Western Border on the intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025. Pak troops also resorted to numerous cease fire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir. The drone attacks were effectively repulsed and befitting reply was given to the CFVs. #IndianArmy remains committed to safeguarding the sovereignity and territorial integrity of the Nation. All nefarious designs will be responded with force.”

Earlier on Thursday, over 50 Pakistani drones were shot down during a widespread counter-drone operation along the LoC and the International Border, sources informed ANI.

Drone Swarm Attempts Prompted Massive Response

The operation was, however, launched in response to Pakistan’s failed attempts to deploy swarm drones across various locations into Indian territory.

Indian Army Air Defence units swiftly engaged and downed drones in multiple areas, including:

  • Udhampur,
  • Samba,
  • Jammu,
  • Akhnoor,
  • Nagrota, and
  • Pathankot

Sources noted that several air defence systems and weapons were deployed in the response, including:

  • L-70 guns,
  • ZU-23 mm,
  • Schilka systems, and
  • advanced counter-unmanned aerial systems (UAS)

The Armed Forces confirmed that the attempted drone strikes, which targeted civilian zones, were successfully foiled. No casualties have been reported.
