India Suspends Visa Services For Canadians Amid Intensifying Diplomatic Row

Amid ongoing diplomatic tensions between the two countries, India has suspended visa services for Canadian nationals till any further notice over Ottawa’s “credible allegations” of linking agents of New Delhi to the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a pro-Khalistan Sikh terrorist.

A notice by BLS International – a private agency hired for initial scrutiny of visa applications said “Due to operational reasons Indian visa services have been suspended till further notice”.

Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau alleged that Indian agents were behind the shooting of Khalistani Tiger Force Chief Harshdeep Singh Nijjar while addressing the parliament on Monday.

As per Trudeau, “Canadian security agencies have been actively pursuing credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the Government of India and the killing of a Canadian citizen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar.”

India has called the Canadian claims “motivated” and absurd. Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) said, “We have seen and rejected the statement of the Canadian Prime Minister in their Parliament, as also the statement by their Foreign Minister.”
