Ukrainian Cities Under Attack By Russia; Two Dead In Kherson

Several Ukrainian cities were targeted by Russian attacks overnight, killing two people in Kherson on Thursday, while falling debris from downed inbound missiles injured several people in Kyiv.

“Since the beginning of the current day, the Russian occupiers have launched a massive missile attack on the civilian infrastructure of a number of regions”, Ukraine’s General Staff stated.

Russian shelling targeted a dormitory in the southern city of Kherson, killing two men aged 29 and 4, according to the regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin.

On Telegram, Oleksandr Prokudin wrote, “The Russian army shelled the residential quarters of Kherson”.

He went on to say, “As of this hour, we know of two dead civilians… they were inside the dormitory”.

“Four individuals were rushed to the hospital, including a 61-year-old woman in critical condition”, Prokudin continued.

According to Ukrainian military officials, Russia launched cruise missile attacks on Kyiv overnight. Seven individuals were hurt and structures were damaged as a result of falling debris from shot-down missiles.

On Telegram, head of the city’s military administration, Sergiy Popko, “According to initial reports, cruise missiles of the X-101/555/55 type were launched from about 10 Tu-95MS strategic aircraft. More than 20 enemy targets were destroyed by air defence forces and mean”.

“As a result of the downing of the missiles, debris fell in several areas of the capital”, Popko continued.

“According to medics, seven people were injured in the Darnytskyi district”, Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced on Telegram.

“Three of them are in city hospitals. Four were treated at the scene”, Klitschko reported.

He stated that among the three people sent to the hospital were a nine-year-old girl and an 18-year-old woman.

Debris also fell on a service station and a vocational technical education institute, according to Klitschko, and rescue services were still on the scene.

According to Popko, the air alert in Kyiv lasted more than two hours.

“The capital has already passed the mark of 1,000 hours of alerts since the start of the full-scale invasion”, Popko continued.

“We survived it and will overcome a lot more together”, Popko added.

Meanwhile, Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov stated that two persons were hospitalized as a result of the morning shelling of the eastern city near the Russian border.

On Telegram, Igor Terekhov wrote that there were at least six strikes, all in the Slobidsky district.

The governor of the wider Kharkiv region, Oleg Synegubov, stated that there was damage to civil infrastructure.
