Independence Day Special: Ram Prasad Bismil’s Mother Never Cried On His Death, Rather Became Freedom Fighter For Son

Every mother has fear of losing her child…no woman can even imagine his son-daughter dying out of any reason but today we will be telling you the story of the great freedom fighter Ram Prasad Bismil’s mother who saw her son being hanged to death in front of her eyes but did not shed a tear. For Moolmati Bismal, Ram Prasad Bismil was the son of Bharat Mata before hers. She thought about every child living in the Indian territory before her own son. He was her only support as she was turning old, but she kept the dignity of Indian soil at supreme and always supported Ram Prasad in the freedom struggle. Today we will know her journey from being mother of a revolutionary leader to a fearless freedom fighter.

The great freedom fighter Ram Prasad Bismil’s sacrifice and undying devotion for the country’s freedom is what has made him immortal. In 1928, Ram Prasad Bismil formed the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association with Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad. On 19 December, 1927 at the age of 30 britishers hanged him to death after his involvement in the Kakori Kand. We all know about him, but less is known about his mother Moolmati Bismil who fought for the freedom struggle after her son’s death.

At the time when her son was being hanged, she remained unmoved and told Ram Prasad Bismil that she was, is and always will be proud to have a son like him. The revolutionary fighter broke down and replied that he wasn’t crying because of death but he would not have a mother like her.

Ram Prasad Bismil was an inspiration to Moolmati. Being a mother, she was never afraid to lose her son in the unpredictable freedom struggle. Moolmati always believed his revolutionary ideas and showed faith in his determination.

Moolmati actively participated in social reform movement. Not just this, she became the first woman to be elected in Legislative Assembly. Her diligence did not end there, she was the first woman who took part in Salt Satyagrah.

Red Fort is all ready like a bride to celebrate the 76th Independence Day, every citizen’s heart is filled with zeal to enjoy the great national festival with pomp and show. The freedom we all enjoy today, live our lives with heads held high and do everything we want without any bondage is a priceless gift bestowed to us by our freedom fighters. It was their hard work, determination and perseverance that has given us a present where we all can enjoy the basic rights every human should get. No one can turn a blind eye to the role women freedom fighters have played in making India free from the shackles of bondage and slavery.

Today, we all enjoy the freedom given to us by people who sacrificed their youth, childhood, education, and easygoing life just to give other citizens a better and deserving future.
