Sanjay Raut’s Big Claim: Priyanka Gandhi Could Win If She Contests From Varanasi

Sanjay Raut, a prominent leader of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction), has asserted that if Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi were to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha election from Varanasi, the constituency held by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she would undoubtedly emerge as the winner.

Raut conveyed, “The people of Varanasi want Priyanka Gandhi. If she decides to stand against PM Narendra Modi in Varanasi, her victory is certain. The electoral battles in Raebareli, Varanasi, and Amethi pose a significant challenge to the BJP.”

Addressing the potential meeting between Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar, Raut stated, “If Nawaz Sharif, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, and PM Narendra Modi could hold a meeting, there’s no reason why Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar couldn’t. Reports of their meeting emerged from the media. Sharad Pawar will clarify this matter soon. It’s my belief that Sharad Pawar invited Ajit Pawar to the INDIA bloc gathering.”

Furthermore, Raut highlighted the discontent within the current government by indicating that both Deputy Chief Ministers of Maharashtra are not content with the present administration. He remarked, “In politics, anything is possible. Ajit Pawar, Devendra Fadnavis, and the citizens of Maharashtra express dissatisfaction with the existing government.”

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar responded to queries about the ‘secret meeting’ with Ajit Pawar, dismissing the notion that it was secretive since it was held at someone’s residence. He clarified, “What’s wrong with meeting my nephew? How can it be labeled secret when it occurred at someone’s residence? I was present at his residence.”

Earlier, Ajit Pawar, Sharad Pawar’s nephew, along with eight NCP MLAs, shifted allegiances to the BJP-Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde)-led Maharashtra government. Subsequently, Ajit Pawar claimed the support of several NCP MLAs and was sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. The state’s other Deputy Chief Minister is Devendra Fadnavis from the BJP.
