In Kollam, Thrissur, and Palakkad, districts of Kerala heat wave alert was issued on Saturday by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
According to IMD announcement, many areas of these districts would experience heat wave conditions on April 27 and 28.
The notice was sent out in response to the intense heat that has been observed over the past few days and was predicated on the possibility of temperatures rising to 41 degrees Celsius in Palakkad and 40 degrees Celsius in each of the districts of Kollam and Thrissur.
Authorities advised people to use utmost caution in these kinds of scenarios.
The notification stated that there is a possibility of heatstroke and sunburn, and that heatstroke can be fatal.
In order to avoid dehydration, authorities also recommended that people bring umbrellas when they go outside and drink lots of water.
Among its many recommendations, the IMD advised people to try to avoid going out during the day and shift public events to the evening.
