HM Amit Shah Assures Odisha Of All Possible Assistance For Cyclone Arnab Relief

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi of all possible assistance to tackle the impact of severe cyclonic storm Arnab.

Shah spoke to Majhi on Thursday, who briefed him on the cyclone’s impact and ongoing relief efforts in southern Odisha.

In a post on X, Majhi said he had apprised the HM of the situation in affected districts and the steps being taken to address the crisis.

Heavy rainfall from Cyclone Arnab caused severe floods and landslides in southern Odisha. The disaster affected thousands and damaged homes, roads and paddy fields.

Floodwaters washed away roads and bridges, cutting off several areas. People remained stranded in Ganjam and Gajapati districts.

Teams from ODRAF, Odisha Fire Services and the NDRF are conducting rescue and relief operations.

Majhi said the Centre’s support would help protect lives, assist affected families and speed up relief and rehabilitation. He thanked Shah for assuring assistance and said the Centre’s cooperation would strengthen Odisha’s response.

Cyclone Arnab struck the Andhra Pradesh coast on October 28, bringing heavy rainfall and disrupting parts of Odisha.

Authorities continue rescue operations, reach stranded residents and restore essential connectivity.
