The Hindu side in the Gyanvapi mosque case asked a Varanasi court to allow the ASI to survey the premises on Wednesday. Their lawyer, Madan Mohan Yadav, said they have completed their argument. The court set the next hearing for September 18.
The Hindu side claims the original Jyotirlinga lies beneath the dome of the alleged mosque in the Gyanvapi complex. They want the ASI to excavate the site. The court will hear the Muslim side’s argument at the next hearing.
Request for Water and ‘Shivling’ Examination
The Hindu side also asked the court to study the water at Gyanvapi Kund. They believe this water, historically called Gyanoday Tirth, gave knowledge to pilgrims who drank it. They want experts like water engineers and geologists to examine it.
Yadav also called for an inspection of the ‘Shivling’ found in the Gyanvapi complex. The Muslim side claims it is a fountain in the ‘wuzukhana’ area. The Hindu side insists it is a ‘Shivling’ and wants it examined to confirm their belief.
Next Hearing Scheduled for September 18
The court will hear the Muslim side’s response on September 18. The Hindu side’s request for an ASI survey and excavation remains under consideration. The court’s decision on this matter is awaited.
