The Varanasi court has scheduled the next hearing for the Gyanvapi Wuzu Khana survey case on September 9. The case involves a revision petition seeking an Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) examination of the disputed Wuzu Khana within the Gyanvapi campus.
The Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee, opposing the survey, filed a counter affidavit. The petitioner, Rakhi Singh, requested more time to submit a reply, leading to the postponement. Justice Rohit Ranjan Agarwal is presiding over the case.
Rakhi Singh, the main plaintiff in the Shringar Gauri case, is challenging a district court order. The lower court dismissed the petition due to the Supreme Court’s directive to maintain the status quo. Singh argues that, similar to the ASI survey of the broader Gyanvapi premises, the sealed Wuzu Khana should also be surveyed, excluding the Shivling, to determine its true nature.
The Wuzu Khana was sealed after a Shivling was reportedly discovered during a court-ordered survey two years ago. The petitioner insists on a comprehensive survey of the area, ensuring no damage to the Shivling.
