Gurugram’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Virender Vij has announced a stringent measure to deter traffic congestion and ensure the smooth passage of emergency vehicles in the city. Individuals found obstructing ambulances and fire trucks amidst heavy traffic will face a hefty fine of ₹10,000, according to Virender Vij.
Under the directive, the zonal officer of Gurugram Traffic Police will be tasked with recording video evidence of such incidents. Offenders failing to yield to emergency vehicles will receive immediate online challans, accompanied by video documentation of the offense.
Vij emphasized that the fine, imposed under Section 194E of the Motor Vehicle Act, aims to facilitate the swift movement of ambulances transporting critically ill patients to various hospitals. He also highlighted the proactive measures undertaken by Gurugram Traffic Police, including providing green corridors for ambulances carrying organs for transplant surgeries.

Furthermore, the Gurugram Traffic Police has intensified enforcement efforts on the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway to promote road safety. Commercial vehicles operating in the first two right lanes of the expressway, from the Kherki Daula toll to the Sirhaul border, will be subject to fines of ₹500. Repeat violations will incur a higher fine of ₹1,500.
DCP Virender Vij convened a meeting with senior officials to disseminate information about the new regulations on the expressway. Transporters were notified to ensure compliance with lane usage rules, emphasizing the importance of keeping the first two lanes clear for smoother traffic flow.
These measures underscore Gurugram Police’s commitment to enhancing traffic management and ensuring the safety of commuters and emergency responders on city roads and highways.
