Income Tax department has issued fresh summons to the BPL card holder security guard to hold six land parcels worth crores in UP in alleged benami assests accumulated by gangster Atiq Ahmed.
Suraj Pal, security guard lives in Prayagraj district’s Pipalgaon, the Income tax department members reached his house and gave the summon to his family members in his name.
As per the sources, Pal has been absconding and when asked about his whereabouts his daughter said they were clueless about it. The Income Tax department has identified Pal as the ‘benamidar (in whose name a benami property is standing)’ of more than 40 land assets of Atiq Ahmed and his gang members.
While being taken to a health hospital Ahmed (60) and his brother Khalid Azim alias Ashraf were killed by three attackers.
As the probe deepened it was revealed that Pal is stated to be a security guard for Khalid Azim’s relative Mohammad Ashraf and had a BPL ration card.
IT department members had a conversation with local Public Distribution System (PDS) in-charge (kotedaar) and recorded his statement who said Pal took ration using BPL card till 2021.
Since 2019, income tax department has been calling the security guard for interrogation but he did not depose following an order was issued to attach six land parcels located in Prayagraj and cumulatively valued at more than Rs 4.3 crore.
According to Income tax return analysis it was found that his income was very meagre which grew from Rs 40 lakh to Rs 6.16 crore in just a time span of 5 years. IT department suspects that Ahmed, his family and his associates, including Mohammad Ashraf, as the beneficial owners of these assets.
